DENVER ZOO
The Denver Zoo is located in the heart of the City Park. Created in 1896 as a result of the donation of a brown bear to the city, it quickly became the home of many other species, causing ducks, prairie dogs (small marmots), antelopes and golden pheasants. Gradually the zoo expanded and developed, especially from the 1950 s, to become one of the city's most popular attractions and one of the most popular zoos in the United States. Today, the site that covers nearly 30 hectares hosts almost 4,000 species, including over 650 different and 200 threatened or endangered.
Not missed, the multicolored creatures of Tropical Discovery, among others frogs, snakes with surprising colors, the African Savor Ridge inhabited by lions and hyenas, and other dreadful fauves, the many Primate Panorama monkeys, and the Bear Mountain, which is at its inauguration, 1918, the first North American enclosure to reproduce the conditions of a natural environment. Now considered a national monument, it houses several species of bears, including grizzly bears. Children will also love boarding the natural gas train that runs through the zoo.
