MOLLY BROWN HOUSE
The Molly Brown House Museum (also called House of Lions) is a beautiful Victorian house of Capitol Hill owned by American philanthropist and activist Margaret Brown. The latter, better known as the unsubmersible Molly Brown, is famous for surviving the shipwreck of the Titanic and inspiring the character of Kathy Bates in James Cameron's film Titanic. But its history, which is discovered through the guided tours of the museum, is also that of a militant woman who fought for women's rights. The museum, of course, can track its experience aboard the Titanic, but also offers a view of life in Denver at the time. It is also a great opportunity to discover the typical architecture of this house inscribed in the National Register of Historic Sites and built in the 1880 s by architect William A. Lang in a blend of several popular styles of the time, including the Queen Anne style.
