ROCKY MOUNTAIN ARSENAL NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Shelter is 64.70 km 2 near the City of Commerce City, approximately 13 km northeast of Denver city center. Located on the US Army's former chemical weapons factory, Arsenal Rocky Mountain, he was appointed National Wildlife Sanctuary in 1992. But to get there, a very careful environmental clean-up has removed all pollutants from the site. Today, more than 330 species of wild animals are resident, including deer, raccoons, raptors, coyotes, white pelicans, ferrets, prairie dogs or bison. A great opportunity to observe the different species and walk in a wild wilderness near the capital of Colorado. When open, plan a small passage to the Visitor Center to learn more about the park and its residents.
