Ecomuseum in an old cider farmhouse, with a reconstructed boiler and a collection of objects and tools

In the small, picturesque town of Le Sap, with its half-timbered houses and red-brick buildings, the Ecomusée de la Pomme has set up shop on the attractive site of the Grand Jardin, a former farm. In this building, which housed a cider mill until 1937, a collection of cider-making objects is on display. You'll see an old gadage (the circular stone trough in which the millstone of the press turns) and a distillery known as a "bouillerie".

As it stands it is barely more than a collection of old tools used to make Cidre and Calvados. It could be so much more with some investment.

Probably best to visit during the 'Fête du cidre' in November.

The surrounding park is very nice with buildings in the traditional Norman style.

écomusée très beau
Nous entrons dans un site restauré par la commune qui nous apprend comment on faisait du cidre et du calvados, avec une double distillation comme pour le cognac. Les maisons restaurées et le musée sont magnifiques. Et la guide est très sympathique!
