Big party to celebrate the memory of King Kamehameha I who unified the Hawaiian Islands. Hula shows and fire dances...
A grand celebration of the memory of King Kamehameha I who unified the Hawaiian Islands. Hula and fire dance performances, craft shows and Polynesian food tasting are held throughout the day. King's Day is celebrated throughout the state of Hawaii, but North Kohala has the largest ceremony because this is where the king was born. The day begins each year with the lei ceremony, in which a large statue of the king is adorned with specially made flower necklaces.
