Located east of the city centre, beyond the Cave Cemetery, Cherokee Park is a huge 165 ha park designed in 1891 by landscape landscape Frederick Law Olmsted (1822-1903). It is very popular for runners, despite its rolling terrain. A 9-hole municipal golf course, the Cherokee Golf Course, has been in place since 1895.
