EDGARTOWN LIGHTHOUSE
Nice lighthouse built in 1938 which underwent many improvements and renovations in Edgartown.
This is Edgartown's pretty lighthouse, signalling to boats the entrance to the town's harbour and Katama Bay. When the original lighthouse was built in 1928, it was made of wood. Over the years, it underwent numerous improvements and renovations, until a hurricane destroyed it in 1938. Instead of being rebuilt, it was replaced by the old Ipswich town lighthouse, more modern and, above all, infinitely more solid with its cast-iron structure. It's less than ten minutes' walk from the bus stop.
