VINCENT HOUSE & GARDENS
This colonial house is the oldest building in Martha's Vineyard. Built in 1672 using traditional techniques from England, it belonged to the Vincent family until the 1940s. No less than eight generations of Vincent have passed it on to each other. Once located near Edgartown's Great Pond, it was moved in the 1970s after being acquired by Martha's Vineyard Preservation Trust, which manages the island's historic buildings. During the guided tour, which lasts about 30 minutes, you will notice that the furniture is quite limited, but all are replicas of the furniture that once occupied the house.
