DEIR MAROUN
The Saint-Maron monastery is located a few meters east of the source on the edge of the cliff. The site is also known as the monastery of the monk Al Raheb. These are cavities that served as a temporary refuge for the disciples of Saint Maron, who was the founder of the Maronite community in the fourth century. The cells carved in the rock can be seen. A small escalation is required to reach the site. However, the interior shows nothing special. The site is more interesting to discover from outside. The killers and foundations of a fortress, which dates back to a more recent period than the cave monastery, are still visible.
