Founded in 1985, Matombo is considered the first gallery devoted solely to shona sculpture. The masterpieces of great Zimbabwean sculptors include the pioneer Akence Makore, or Norbert Shamuyarira. This last piece of stone, drawing on feelings of sadness and insecurity, and among his works, one can cite Tomorrow's Tomorrow Come or Born to Cry. This art really flourished in the second half of the twentieth century. Today various semi-abstract or figurative parts (humans, animal deities…) are exposed to sale in these premises.
