ELEFTHERIAS SQUARE
Square with an imposing two-story mosque and a section of ancient wall.
Liberty Square will be a good starting point to discover the history of Kos: different eras are gathered in one place. You will admire the imposing Defterdar mosque which dates from the end of the 18th century. Built on two floors, its ochre dome recalls that of the ablution fountain on the square. Unfortunately, its minaret collapsed in the earthquake of 2017. You will also see a section of ancient wall dating from the 4th century BC and buildings dating from the Italian occupation, including the archaeological museum.

Mention spéciale pour les "marmarites" du restaurant Aegli que je recommande vivement !!
