PLATANI-KERMENTES-GERM
Community offering a discovery of a unique gastronomy and culture.
In the direction of the Asclepiion is the village of Platani, as the Greeks with an Orthodox majority call it, or Kermentes-Germ, for the Muslim Turks of the Dodecanese. The village is the heart of this community of about 2,000 members, descendants of the Ottomans who settled in Kos in 1522 and who are Greek nationals. You will discover a unique cuisine and culture, as well as the tensions that remain between this minority and the national authorities, especially since the earthquake of 2017, which saw the closure of the two mosques, still not renovated.
