CASA ROMANA
Patrician villa in the Greco-Roman city of Kos organized around three atriums with mosaics.
In the heart of the Greco-Roman city, this patrician villa dates back to the 3rd century A.D. It was revealed by the earthquake of 1933 and excavated in 1934-36 by Italian archaeologists. It is a precious testimony to bourgeois life at the time. The house is organized around three atria, which were probably covered with mosaics. A number of the statues that decorated the ensemble are on display in the Archaeological Museum. During the Second World War, Casa Romana was used by the Italians as a nursing home.
