LIBERTY STATE PARK
Liberty State Park is a 4.9 km2 state park founded in 1976, located facing the Hudson River. A small peculiarity: it faces Liberty Island, the island on which the Statue of Liberty sits, in New York State. The panoramic view of Lady Liberty is more impressive from here than from New York, that is. It is also possible to take the ferry to Liberty Island from the park. Don't forget your camera: the view of Manhattan's skyscrapers is absolutely breathtaking.
Follow the Freedom Way to really take your eyes off it. This road, coupled with a trail that can be used on foot or by bicycle, leads to the Central Railroad of New Jersey terminal, which saw more than 10 million immigrants pass through between 1889 and 1867.
The Liberty Science Center is also located within the park. This science museum offers interactive exhibits on technology, energy and ecology, and contains a gigantic planetarium.
The Empty Sky Memorial, which pays tribute to the victims of the September 11 attacks, is a must-see. It is symbolized by two facing granite walls that create a passage to the World Trade Center, clearly visible on the other side of the river. The names of the 746 victims from New Jersey are engraved on it.
