Memorial at Mont-Ormel retracing the history of the fighting between the Allies and soldiers of the German Army.
Located 18 kilometres from Argentan, on hill 262 overlooking the Pays d’Auge, this place of remembrance enjoys a calm that is far removed from the history it recounts: the battles that pitted the four Allied nations against the soldiers of the German VIIth Army, encircled in the Falaise-Chambois pocket. It was on the very site of the Memorial, from 18 to 22 August 1944, that the epilogue to the bloody battle of Normandy was played out, with the loss of more than 10,000 lives.
