Brunei's mangrove swamps are home to nasal monkeys. It's easy to see them from Bandar Seri Begawan. The best time to catch a glimpse is early morning or late afternoon, shortly before sunset. You'll travel up the Damuan and Brunei rivers between curtains of nipah, the tall palm fronds used to cover roofs. Along the way, you're likely to come across fishermen, birds, proboscis and crocodiles, if you're lucky.
