Museum hosting an exhibition showing various aspects of Hakka life
Occupying an area of 2,000 m², this fortified village was founded in 1786 by a member of the Chan clan, who had immigrated to Fujian and then Guangdong provinces before settling in the New Territories. Sam Tung Uk (the House of Three Beams) was a prosperous village inhabited by Hakka peasant families, divided into twelve houses surrounded by a surrounding wall. The houses still contain various pieces of furniture. An exhibition shows various aspects of Hakka life (festivals, ritual ceremonies, handicrafts).
