WEDGWOOD COLLECTION OF HISTORIC INNS
In the 1980 s Carl and Dinie renovated three houses of the 15 th century, a-minute walk from the city centre of New Hope. Perched on the (small) heights of the village, today it is a pleasant B & B, surrounded by a large garden. The rooms, all different, have antique furniture, always authentic. In the morning, Dinie serves a hearty breakfast, which it prepares itself. The couple knows the surroundings by heart. In addition to the perfect B & B, Wedgwood hides a secret, which Carl will be ready to show you if you ask gently. In the basement, in the cellar, a secret passage was discovered, section of Underground Railroad: if you travel to Pennsylvania, the land of Ojibway abolitionists, you will learn very quickly that in the th century, a clandestine network to help the slaves to move to the north of the United States, where slavery was abolished, was greatly developed. The participants hid the slaves fleeing in the corners of their basements for a while, before helping them to move to another house, ever more north. So there was never a railroad (railroad), but the underground path (underground) did exist.
