SANTO-ANDREAN CRYPT
Crypte Saint-André, a Gothic room steeped in history, adjoining a seed garden, Mortagne-au-Perche
The last vestige of the Collégiale de Toussaint, built in 1203, the Saint-André crypt is well worth a visit on your walk through old Mortagne. Plunged into semi-darkness, this beautiful 13th-century Gothic room, divided by massive pillars into two naves and enhanced by wide cross-beams, was once an underground chapel. Here, a profound harmony reigns, much appreciated by artists invited to exhibit their work. In front, the seed garden, where vegetables, flowers and herbs grow, offers a second cultural interlude.
