Every year, the Costa Brava, the name given to the coast in northeastern Catalonia, attracts crowds who come to enjoy ideal conditions to spend a remarkable summer. Located only a hundred kilometres from the French border, Blanes is an ideal small town to settle down with your family. Sun, sea, activities of all kinds, all the elements are gathered so that all the members of the family can spend a remarkable holiday, where moments of pure relaxation on the sand of the Mediterranean beaches give way to playful, but also cultural and gourmet moments. This is something to give ideas to more than one person, at a time of year when holiday bookings are going well.
Enjoy a multitude of activities in a destination that has seduced families for many years
It is not for nothing that Blanes, which recalls in many ways the charms of a traditional fishing village, obtained the "Destination de tourisme en famille" certificate in 2006. There are indeed many possibilities to spend pleasant moments with your children, in a setting that invites you to have fun and relax. We take advantage of an exceptional natural setting to enjoy pleasant walks under the sun. The Marimurtra Botanical Garden and its rich natural and architectural heritage or the Pinya de Rosa Tropical Garden and its incredible collection of cacti are peaceful places not to be missed under any circumstances. You can also reach the many belvederes during hikes, such as the one at the port or Sant Joan and its castle, to enjoy very beautiful panoramas and stop to take a few pictures. The views over Blanes, its cliffs and the blue Mediterranean are of breathtaking beauty. It is also necessary to count on the presence of many facilities designed to offer the whole family fun moments. Blanes has cycle paths through the city, a tourist train, playgrounds and the mini-club on the beach with inflatable structures, and, if you wish, you can join the escape game, bowling or karting. Holidays are also an opportunity to spend a good time at the table together, and for this reason, the city is full of markets supplied by local fishermen, among others. There are also good restaurants where you can enjoy some local specialities and it is pleasant to end the day with a walk on the waterfront, with ice cream in hand, thanks to the presence of many glaciers everywhere along the streets
Holidays at the rhythm of the sea
The Mediterranean Sea is so much at the heart of all the attention to Blanes that it is well worth a special mention. It seems obvious that the holidays will be punctuated by long and good moments on the beaches and these offer many activities for families. We reach the rocky islet Sa Palomera, which marks the beginning of the Costa Brava, and we have the choice between Blanes beach to the north or head south towards Abanell. The latter is perfect for water activities such as towed buoys or jet skis. They are also two ideal beaches to put your towel down a stone's throw from the city centre, sunbathe and enjoy moments of swimming in fresh, slightly rough water. And then there are the magnificent coves around, which can be reached by car and, for some, by boat, such as the sublime Sa Forcanera cove. These are smaller, more intimate beaches, where you can contemplate the rocky cliffs covered with vegetation immersed in a turquoise blue sea. There is Santa Anna cove, which can be reached on foot after a 10-minute walk from the centre of Blanes. You should also take a walk along Treumal beach and Sant Francesc cove to be surprised by the beauty of the seascapes offered by the Costa Brava. These two coves have a restaurant that allows you to enjoy delicious dishes with Mediterranean flavours, all facing the sea
