Founded by the renowned Aimé Rivière aka Mémé, this charming boutique offers delicious local products to take home, including their famous turmeric, a spice with recognized medicinal and gustatory qualities here in powder, syrup, jam, vinegar or punch. They also organize half-day tours of the garden, the farm and the spice cave, ending with a Creole meal. An authentic stopover, as rich in color as it is in flavor! Products also available for international delivery on the website.

Open 7 days a week, 9am to 12pm and 1:30pm to 5pm. Free admission. Guided tour by appointment on Thursdays from 9:30 am to 2 pm: €39.
Owner's Message
Called the capital of "Pei saffron" by the inhabitants of the island, Plaine des Grégues is a charming little village located in the hollow of green mountains where the sunshine and the coolness make the cultivation of turmeric possible. For decades, generations of planters have succeeded one another in cultivating this root. The house of turmeric invites you to discover the manufacture of the golden powder which makes the richness of the Reunionese dishes (fish curry, chicken...). Without forgetting the other spices that you can smell while passing by the Creole kitchens like pepper, massalé, vanilla, powdered or candied ginger, arrowroot etc..
Other products of the soil which take place on the shelves of the families such as delicious marmalades sweetened with honey are proposed to the tasting and the sale (tangor, mandarin, lemon, guava...). The whole house of turmeric wishes you to titillate your pupils while waiting to delight your taste buds.

La maison du Curcuma dispose à al fois d'une partie boutique et d'une partie découverte mise en place sous forme de petite salle cinéma. Un film clair et concis de ce qu'est le curcuma nous raconte d'où il vient, son exploitation et ses vertus.
La jeune dame nous aillant accueillis nous a gentiment proposé la. Dégustation de nombreux produits dérivés du curcuma. C'est aussi l'occasion de poser des questions concernant ce produit.
