AMBITIOUS YOUTH OF KHAYELITSHA (AYK)
If you like football and want to help an original initiative, contact this NGO created by young people who turned the page of violence.
Some now have full-time jobs, but they also devote themselves to the new generation to avoid making the same mistakes. These "great brothers" of Khayelitsha work with young people aged 7 to 25 who consider themselves to be "no future", often drowned in the violence of the townships, and help them develop a professional and personal project. The NGO put on football, of course, education and tourism. The concept is simple: Teens who want to participate in football tournaments on weekends (which occupy them until 4 am) must not drink in the evening and follow courses on sexuality, AIDS and violence, provided by educators. Young people benefit from the land during the day and also follow courses.
To partially fund the project, Ambitious Youth of Khayelitsha organizes a Walk in the neighbourhood, a meeting with its inhabitants in shebeens and a game of football on the ground with young people. Contact them directly or by Coffee Bean Route.
