DAVIS THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
This grand theatre opened its doors on January 25, 1930, under the name Paramount Theatre. Designed for vaudeville shows and film screenings, he was a long part of Montgomery's daily life before closing in 1976. Acquired in 1983 by Troy University, and reopened under the name Davis Theatre, it is among the handful of theatres still standing in the South. Its room contains 1 200 seats and hosts musical and professional musicals, theatre productions, chamber music groups, the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, dance groups, ballets and instrumental performances of all types. In addition, it is available to cultural and educational institutions for the holding of different activities.
