DOOR HOUSE
The Doorman House is next to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was named Michael Doorman (1834-1859), the first Catholic bishop of Mobile, who built it in 1833. It was designed by Claude Beroujon, a seminarian architect, nephew of Michael Doorman, who also has the plans of the cathedral. Reverend Abram Ryan (1838-1886), known as the "poet-priest of the South", held a room on the second floor of 1870, until 1877. The house was restored in 1958 and then in 2007. It has been registered in the National Register of Historic Sites since 1970.
