AYR MOUNT
This historic building is a former federal plantation built in 1815 by William Kirkland and named after his Scottish hometown Ayr. The visit allows you to discover the different rooms of the old plantation and a guided tour organised on Wednesdays and weekends gives you the opportunity to learn more about the history of the plantation and life at the time. If you have some time left after the visit, don't miss the peaceful 1.5 km walk along the Eno River with views of the Kirkland family cemetery, the foundations of the old tavern and the old Indian Trading Path.
