SOUTH CAROLINA STATE HOUSE
The first capital of South Carolina was first Été. When the capital was moved to the centre of the state in Columbia in 1790, State House was built at its current location. Yet the building we see today is not the original building: it was burned down by Sherman's troops in 1865. In any case, it was planned to replace this first building with a larger structure: the current building. Already under construction during the catastrophic Sherman passage, State House still bears the marks of the unioniste and the unionist artillery on its facades. Guided tours are free and allow you to enter the entrailles of local power.
