MANSFIELD PLANTATION
This magnificent plantation was founded in 1718 near the Black River. Formerly paddy, it is now converted into Bed & Breakfast: an ideal setting for a few days in the region. A dirt trail will take you through wood to the entrance lined with majestic oaks. Near the entrance, the slave village with boxes and churches is still standing. This pleasant and emblematic plantation of the region was part of the Patriot movie, Mel Gibson. In the rice fields now flooded, you can check out the affected and the bikes will be lent to you to turn the property around. A very nice step.
