HISTORIC OAKLAND CEMETERY
The entire history of Atlanta is represented here, the graves of Civil War soldiers to the pioneers of civil rights by industry leaders. All styles of monuments are represented: Victorian, Greek Revival, neo-classical Gothic, Egyptian and exotic Gothic. A number of mausoleums have stained glass windows from Tiffany Studios (New York) and bronze boxes close to 2 m high have been relayed by the famous Gorham Manufacturing Company of New York. Among burials not to be missed: that of Margaret Mitchell (1900-1949), author of the same as the Wind and Monument to the honour of the dead and unknown Confederate represented by a superb stone lion.
