MARGARET MITCHELL HOUSE & MUSEUM
It's in this family house that 26-year-old Margaret Mitchell started writing his great novel on the war of Secession, emporte the wind (Gone with the Wind). A work that will take her 10 years of work. Published in 1936, the book is awarded the Pulitzer Award the following year. When it's on the screen in 1939, it's one of Hollywood's greatest success stories. With Vivien Leigh in the role of Scarlett O'Hara and Clark Gable in that of Rhett Butler, he won more oscars than any film before him. He won only 20 years later but now remains one of America's greatest Classics. The visit concerns several pieces on the ground floor and continues with an exhibition devoted to the author: A Passion for Character. In the neighbouring building, a room is devoted to making the film. A boutique makes it possible to buy souvenirs and promote museums in the Atlanta area that form the Wind of the Wind Trail and are dedicated to the same theme.
