ATLANTA CYCLORAMA & CIVIL WAR MUSEUM
This museum on the war of Secession was particularly interested in the Battle of Atlanta, which took place on 22 July 1864. It contains objects, weapons, uniforms, as well as documents and photographs dating from the conflict. The main attraction is the Atlanta Rehearsal, a huge cylindrical painting (12 metres high and 109 metres long) that away in front of spectators with a comment and musical background, and tells the great battle of Atlanta. Made in 1886 by German artists, the rehearsal was given to the city in 1898 by George V. Gress, a local philanthropist. Among the exhibits in the museum, there will be no shortage of attention to the locomotive «Texas», which dates back to 1862.
