HIGH MUSEUM OF ART
In beautiful buildings by architects Richard Meier and Renzo Piano for the new wings, the collections follow and match all major international museums. An unfortunate story links France to High, as it is called here: in 1962, a plane crash at Orly airport kills 106 members of the museum visiting the Louvre. At that time it was one of the greatest airplane accidents in history. As a sign of remembrance, France gave a work of Rodin to the museum and the Louvre lent a number of works, making High the first foreign museum to enjoy such a gesture from the Louvre. Here you will find a permanent collection of American art from the th and th centuries and contemporary works of the Afro-American community.
