GEORGIA CAPITOL & CAPITOL MUSEUM
In April 1868, when Georgia was holding a referendum to ratify a new constitution, Atlanta was designated as the new capital of the State. Shortly thereafter, the contents of the former State House of Milledgeville were shipped by rail in Atlanta without any provision for the reception of government members. The first two buildings used alternately were demolished and replaced by it from 1889. Although today surrounded by many buildings in a part of downtown, the golden dome and the building have lost nothing of their splendour. Its museum can be visited and will allow you to learn a lot about the state.
