NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE MIGHTY EIGHTH AIR FORCE
The national museum of the Eighth Air Force is located in Pooler, in the west outskirts of Savannah, near the airport. He presents many materials, objects and documents dating from the Second World War, most of which relate to the history of the eighth air force of the American Army Air Force. The latter played an important role in European theatre during the conflict.
The permanent exhibition is divided into several very interesting galleries: Prelude to WWII, Mission Experience, Combat Gallery… Many of the aircraft at the time exhibited a B -17 Flying Fortress, a Chasseur Bf 109 G hunter, a P -51 Mustang fighter, a B -47 Stratojet, a MiG -17, or a F II -4 Phantom II from the Cold War era. Some are under restoration.
Other points of interest on the site include Memorial Garden, Chapel of the Fallen Eagles and an English-style pub, open every day, noon and evening. Shop.
