MISSISSIPPI GOVERNOR'S MANSION
State building – Town Hall

Built from 1839 to 1842, the governor's hotel has been busy until today. He was spared during the Civil War by General Sherman and could have served him, without any evidence, from headquarters. This néogrec style building is the work of architect William Nichols (1780-1853), which is the second capitol of Jackson (now Old Capitol Museum). The visited part is not the one occupied by the current governor.
