VICKSBURG RIVERFRONT MURALS
On 200 metres, along the wall of the dam (floodwall) separating the floating casino from the Old Depot Museum, 32 murals made by artist Robert Dafford in 2002 represent the main periods of history in Rode. At a glance, we discover the old downtown of Rode, the age of the steamboats on the river, the Great Bear Hunt with President "Teddy" Roosevelt (which took place 30 miles from here in 1902), the African-American history and many other episodes. At the centre of the wall is the first mural painted in 2001 by artist Martha Ferris (www.marthaferris.com). This abstract painting represents the three vital Artères arteries: the river, the railway and the road.
