BORROUM'S DRUG STORE
Borroum's Drug Store & Soda Fountain was created in 1865. It's the oldest drugstore in Mississippi still in operation. The building was built around 1843 and originally was a tannery. It was Dr. Andrew Jackson Borroum who, in the return of the civil war, opened up what was at a general store. We sold perfumes, incense, medicines, herbs, tobacco, coffee, etc. Today, it is Camille Borroum Mitchell, the great granddaughter of Colonel Bloom, who is the head of the family-owned company. The drugstore is divided into a pharmacy, a part of a smoker's articles, a confectionery and a restoration section. The window has been restored, as inside, and keeps its appearance authentic. Attablé for lunch in the midst of the clients who make their purchase, we feel good and experience a unique experience. We eat classic salads and burgers, but especially the Slugburger. This sort of hamburger is made of a galette made of beef or pork and soy meat, which is then fried in oil. Slugburger is usually served on a small bread with mustard, gherkins, onions, and with French fries. An unforgettable experience!
