C & D JARNAGIN COMPANY
This small business of 10 people is one of the leading suppliers of American museums with respect to the military effects and equipment of the War of Secession (among others). Part of the building is also used for the historical reconstruction scenes that take place regularly in the South and for the filming of certain films. Think of pushing the workshop door to ask for a good overview of what is being done in the walls. Each employee is multi-task and is alternately, shoemaker, tailor, tailleur or craftsman of leather. Only white iron equipment (gourdes, bidons, pans.) is made by the same worker. A good work when you know that the time for a soldier's jacket can take up to three days and a hat up to one week. A long time to dress a whole regiment…. Although everything is made on site, the fabrics come from Belgium, China or Canada. We will remember when the soldiers of the Civilian War travelled with about 22 kg of equipment.
