This centre, which is part of the Shiloh National Military Park, is designed to explain the challenges and the battles of Shiloh (Tennessee) and Corinth, whose sites are spaced 23 miles apart. The battle of Shilo took place on 6 and 7 April 1962, with the victory of the Union, that of Corinth (or Siège headquarters) from 29 April to 30 May 1962, with another victory for the Union. The centre is close to the site of Battery Robinett, a turned fortification which was the scene of bloody fighting during the second battle of Corinth in October 1962, when the Confederate tried to return to the city.
