This museum is dedicated to William Christopher Handy (1873-1958), "The Father of The Blues," who inspired the melodies and gymnastics played by the elders to write here, in 1909, the Memphis Blues title. This piece would be the catalyst of a new genre and its actions guide thousands of musicians. Although installed in New York from 1917, W.C. Handy continued to influence the evolution of blues and jazz. He has many other successes, such as St. Louis Blues (1914) or Beale Street Blues (1916).
