STAX MUSEUM OF AMERICAN SOUL MUSIC
Good museum that traces the origins of soul music in gospel, country and spirituals in Memphis
Mythical studio that recorded the greatest of the soul in the 1960 and 1970 and until its closure in 1975. Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Al Green, and Ike and Tina Turner went through this. This very good museum recounts the origins of soul, in the gospel, the country and the spirituals to explain the incredible alchemy that was this musical current. Back on the claims of civil rights and the greatest stars who helped make this studio of registration a place of pilgrimage. Adjacent to the museum, the Satellite Record Shop was a kind of community centre where neighbourhood neighbours were found to listen to new recordings prior to their release on the airwaves. This is now the museum shop.
