JACK DANIEL'S DISTILLERY
Historic whiskey distillery, the oldest in the United States, located in Moore County in Lynchburg.
You've certainly heard of Jack Daniel's whisky?
This historic distillery, the oldest declared whisky distillery in the USA, was licensed in 1866 by Jasper Newton Daniel. Its signature whisky, OldNo. 7, attracted international attention as early as 1904, when it was awarded the Gold Medal at the World's Fair in St. Louis, Missouri. The distillery survived Prohibition, then another closure during the Second World War, to finally become the international brand we all know today.
Ironically, it is located in Moore County, where the consumption of alcohol is still prohibited today (known as Dry County). Today, the brand is owned by Brown-Forman Corporation. Guided tours take you back in time, from Prohibition to the backstage of whisky production. Each tour reveals a different aspect of the distillery and its history. Tours are for adults over 21 only.
