Sunsphere located downtown, a tower displaying Knoxville's emblem, sarmentant of a golden globe, a world's fair
The 80-meter tower that has become Knoxville's landmark is topped by a golden globe, the Sunsphere, a relic of the 1982 World's Fair. It's located in the city center, and you can take a special elevator to the top for a view of the surrounding area. From here, you can look out over the valley to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and learn more about the World's Fair in a small exhibition.
