NEWFOUND GAP
Located at 1 538 metres of altitude, delimiting the border between North Carolina and Tennessee, this very tourist pass is the required crossing point for which the US 441 connects Cherokee to Gatlinburg. Rockefeller Memorial was erected in honour of John Rockefeller Jr., a generous donor who participated in the creation of the national park in 1937 with a donation of $ 5 million. The view is particularly beautiful.
The name of this collar (Newfound: newly discovered), comes from the fact that it was found after Indian Gap, located about one mile to the west, which was on the old road crossing the Smoky Mountains.
