Cades Cove Valley to the west of the national park has a wide variety of historic buildings, with many structures.
The Cades Cove valley lies to the west of the national park. The first European settlers arrived here between 1818 and 1821. Here you'll find the greatest variety of historic buildings in the national park, with many faithfully restored structures from the 18th and 19thcenturies. An 11-mile (approx. 17km) one-way loop road, Cades Cove Loop Road, takes you around the area. On Wednesdays from May to September, this loop is open only to cyclists and walkers. When the road is open to cars in summer, traffic jams are frequent.
