WALNUT STREET BRIDGE
Built in 1890, this 724-metre bridge connecting Downtown to NorhtShore was closed to motor traffic in 1978. He remained on abandonment for ten years before being added to the National Register of Historic sites in early 1990. Renovated and integrated into the pedestrian area on the banks of Tennessee River, it is now an essential area for visitors to the city centre and the best way to reach Coolidge Park on foot, enjoying a splendid view over the river. The bridge is used for several cultural events during the year, including Wine over Water (www.wineoverwater.org), a wine festival where more than 100 vintages are placed on the bridge in October, or the Seven Bridges Marathon (sevenbridgesmarathon.com) which also takes place in the same month.
