This site can be explored by several routes, the most popular of which is the Main loop trail, a 1.6 kilometer
Bandelier National Monument has over 70 miles of trails within its boundaries, and many more that connect to the national forest lands surrounding Santa Fe. If you're in a hurry, you can just do the Main Loop trail and allow an hour to visit the park, but you can easily spend several hours, or even a whole day, if you decide to hike the park, which boasts over 110 miles of walking trails. Be careful when you set out on your hike, as there are virtually no watering holes along the way.
Main loop trail , 1.6 km. The most popular trail. Fairly easy (there are a few ladders to climb along the way), it allows you to take a closer look at the many remains at around twenty stops. A few hundred meters further on, you'll discover an elevated site, offering a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Beware of those prone to vertigo on this last section, though it's easy to walk and easy to access.
White Rock Overlook offers a magnificent view of the Rio Grande.
Very practical. Camping is available here, for just ten dollars a night. There are a total of three campsites, accommodating up to 50 visitors at a time.
Free admission days are January 16, April 22, August 4, September 23 and November 11.
