The town hall of Hîncești can provide you with useful information, especially about places to visit and the surrounding area. Its website can also inform you about local events. The locality was already mentioned in documents from 1522 and its name is derived from that of the boyar Mihalcea Hîncu. For a long time, the village hosted a market that was renowned throughout Moldova. During the Soviet period, the town was called Kotovskoe from 1944 to 1965, then Kotovsk until 1990, in honour of the Bolshevik revolutionary Grigori Kotovski.
