ARTĂ RUSTICĂ
The Arte complex Rustică was founded in 2004 thanks to the NGO Rural Women and aimed at cultivating the treasure of Moldovan folklore heritage. You will have the joy of visiting an exceptional carpet weaving and embroidery workshop. The place is unusual and magnificent in its authenticity. The beautiful looms follow one another from room to room with carpets in progress and balls of wool that animate the space with shimmering colours. An ethnographic museum provides information on the carpet-making processes and their graphic evolution over time. This museum is linked to the history of Ecaterina, mistress of the place, her family and her village.
This place has been able to link the past and the present by becoming a highly recognized training centre where young and old alike parade all year round. The centre offers a wide range of already woven Moldavian carpets, small woolen bags, embroidered traditional costumes and other tablecloths and household linen. In two to three months, the carpet is shipped to your home wherever you are. If you have a little time, you can also learn the art of weaving for a week and for 1,000 lei you will make a small piece of carpet. The carpets are made of imported but also local wool, and the embroidery on the clothes is mechanical or manual, which explains the difference in price. For a 3 x 1.4 metre carpet, count on average 10,000 lei, for a hand-embroidered blouse 3,000 lei and a mechanically embroidered one 1,200 lei.
