Zoological park set up in the former presidential residence of Blaise Compaoré, who was passionate about wildlife.

The Ziniaré Zoological Park surrounds the former presidential residence of Blaise Compaoré, who was passionate about wildlife. The entrance to the park is also the former presidential entrance, so its access is strictly controlled. The visit of the Ziniaré zoo is subject to a prior request of about a week from the town hall: the time required to carry out the necessary checks. Since the fall of the former president, the management of the park has been unclear. The park is more or less abandoned, at the opposite of modern zoos. The small enclosures, most of them empty, surrounded by barbed wire, contain relatively thin, lonely animals that seem sadly aware of their fate.

I went there a few years ago when Blaise Compaore was quietly in power. The site was already managed by the town hall. The animals were already lean. The zoo was already desert. It is not an attraction for Africa because animals are on their land. At worst, it would have been better to make a private reservation to support the needs of animals. This zoo is a mouroir. Go instead to Bazoulé where crocodiles are treated in their natural environment.

- 1 singe seul dans une cage au milieu de 4 autres cages ;
- 2 éléphants rachitiques ;
