MUSEO NACIONAL DEL VIRREINATO
Museum that traces the history of the colony of New Spain, through the exhibition of paintings, clothing and objects of the period.
Housed in the former Jesuit school, this museum traces the history of the colony of New Spain through the exhibition of paintings, furniture, clothing and objects of the period. Your visit will surely begin with the adjoining church of San Francisco Javier, whose 12 baroque altarpieces pay tribute to the mystical opulence of the period. The chapel dedicated to the Virgen de Loreto is perhaps the highlight of the show, for its altarpiece bathed in gold leaf.
